وهي دراسة طبية متخصصة تشمل اساسيات مكافحة العدوي بالمستشفيات و اساليب منع حدوثها و انتشارها و التأثير السلبي لها علي جودة الأداء الطبي و لكون وجود أدارة متخصصة لمكافحة العدوي و التلوث بالمستشفيات هي احد اهم الأسس لتفعيل جودة الأدارة و الأعتراف بالمنشئات الطبية.
Infection control (IC) is a necessary component of safe, high quality patient care and essential for hospital accreditation.
Surveillance is the ongoing, systematic collection, analysis, interpretation, and dissemination of data regarding NOSOCOMIAL HOSPITAL INFECTION CONTROL, in order to reduce morbidity and mortality and to improve health. Hospital-acquired infections are among the leading causes of death and morbidity among patients who receive healthcare. These complications require expensive use of health care resources and they often lead to increase medication, supplies, and increase duration of hospitalization. They also may impair the quality of healthcare. Prevention of Hospital acquired infections is therefore cost effective and achievable even when resources are limited.
